: hey i need help with the associative property with this problem in my workbook. it says (15+x)+2=2+(15+x) and i missed it when i put what property it was in. i put associative(+). i had a problem similar to that and i put associative (+)&(x) and i still got that problem wrong.so i'm not sure why and i was wondering if you could help me.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! That would be the commutative property (of addition), which says:
a + b = b + a
If you let a = (15 + x) and b = 2, you can see why this works.
The associative property says that you can move the parenthesis, but only when everything is in the same order:
a + (b + c) = (a + b) + c
