I understand the FOIL method, but usually the two equations are multiplied not added. How is this problem solved.
Question 335416: The problem:
(3x+2y)+(x-6y)
I understand the FOIL method, but usually the two equations are multiplied not added. How is this problem solved. Answer by Edwin McCravy(20054) (Show Source):
When they're added it's much easier than FOIL
(3x + 2y) + (x - 6y)
Just remove the parentheses
3x + 2y + x - 6y
Combine the like terms
4x - 4y
and you're done!
