the commutative property states:
The commutative property describes equations in which the order of the numbers involved does not affect the result.
Addition and multiplication are commutative operations.
Subtraction and division, however, are not commutative.mutative.
i do not believe the associative process is at work here.
the associate property states:
The associative property describes equations in which the grouping of the numbers involved does not affect the result.
As with the commutative property, addition and multiplication are associative operations.
Once again, subtraction and division are not associative.
your expressions are:
(4+7)+1 = (7+4)+1
the commutative property is at work because 4+7 is equal to 7+4.
the associative property is not at work because they did not change the associations.
if the expression was (4+7)+1 = 4+(7+1), then the associative process would be at work.

The property being used for this question is the commutative property. The reason is because the numbers inside the parentheses are switched, but the numbers aren't replaced by the other number (like 1). Associative property is not being used in this problem nor the distributive property.
Associative replaces the number inside the parentheses by the number that was originally not in the parentheses. Ex. (61+65)+95 = 61+(65+95)
Distributive multiplies the number(s) inside the parentheses. Ex. 4(7+5)=28+20.
So the answer is commutative property.
