Question 114052: how would i solve these using factoring :D .
1- (x - 2)(2x - 5) = 0
2- x^2 + 6x - 27 = 0
3- x^2 + 6 = -5x
Answer by edjones(8007) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! (x - 2)(2x - 5) = 0
It is already factored.
x-2=0
x=2,
2x-5=0
2x=5
x=5/2
.
x^2 + 6x - 27 = 0
we know the signs will be different because the last sign is minus.
we know the larger number will be + because the sign in front of 6 is +.
What 2 different signed factors of 27 add up to +6? 9 and -3.
(x+9)(x-3)=0
x=-9, x=3
.
x^2 + 6 = -5x
We have to rearrange the equation.
x^2+5x+6=0
we know the signs will be the same because the last sign is +.
we know they will be + because the middle sign is +.
what 2 factors of six add up to 5? 3 and 2.
(x+3)(x+2)=0
x=-3, x=-2
.
