Question 118868: We are using McDougal Littrells Algebra 1 book for my math class. My teacher uses homework generated from a web site. I do not know the site so I'm having difficulty getting an explanation of it. Below are the instructions along with a few problems.
"Extra Practice 4.1
In 1-12, sketch the lines on the coordinate plane. Then find the point at which the lines intersect.
1.) x=3, y=2
2.) x=-2, y=4 "
I don't understand what I'm being asked to do; x and y in these problems are points on a graph rather than a line, and if they're treated as a slope and y intercept- it still only graphs a single line (which will intersect with nothing!) What am I missing here?

Question 122455: The directions to the question: find the equation of the line parallel to the line 5=-10x-10y that passes through the point (-2,1). I need the answer to this question which i'm having trouble to find. Please help answer and thank you for your time.
the answer to tis question is Y=X+3
How to do?
from the previous eqn 5=10x-10y
Let 10y=10x-5
Becos u have to find gardient from thids eqn
Y=MX+C
10y=10x-5 (divide by 5)
2y=2x-1
bring the 2 over by dividing by 2
y=x+ 1/2
So from here u know that gradient is 1
x= -2 and y=1
by sub the 2 value
1=(-2)(1)+c
C=3
so the eqn is Y=x+3

Question 122456: The directions read: find a common solution for the system of equations -3y+12x=9 and x-y=0. I think the answer is (1,1) but i'm not sure if i'm correct. Please look over it and if it's correct just say i did it right, but if it's wrong then give me the answer and show how you got to that answer.thank you for your time.

someone please help me asap. thanks
1. (3,2),y= x+5
2. (-1,-2),3x-y=5
3. (12,3), y=4/5x + 10
4. (-2,2), y= -1/5x + 9
5. (-4,1), 4x+7y=6
6. (2,4), x-6y=2

Question 124002: What formula do i use to solve six problems, who's directions say
write the slope-intercept form of an equation of the line that passe through the given point and is perpendicular to the graph of each equation.?
and the formula that i use do i work the problems as i would for the problems that say write the slope-intercept form of an equation of the line that passe through the given point and is parallel to the graph of each equation.?
here's a few problems for example
(-2,-2) y=-1/3x+9
(-4,-3) 4x+y=7
(2,4) x-6y=2
(-4,1) 4x+7y=6
(4,-5) 2x-5y=-10
