Question 61607: Once again, I've got a solution that doesn't graph properly. My lines do not intersect.
Solve by graphing and give Solution for X and Y:
2X=Y+1
2X-Y=5
Equation 1:
2X=0+1
2X=1
X=1/2 (1/2, 0)
2(0)=Y+1
0=Y+1
-1=Y (0, -1)
Equation 2:
2X-0=5
2X=5
X=5/2 or 2 1/2 (2 1/2,0)
2(0)-Y=5
0-Y=5
-Y=5
Y=-5 (0, -5)
Graphing shows the lines run almost parallel. Did I do this right?

Question 61606: When I solved the problem, my answers come close but am slightly off. Maybe my graph isn't detailed enough.
3X+Y=5
-2X+3Y=4
Equation 1: 3x+0=5 (Solving for X)
3x=5
x=5/3 or 1 2/3 (1 2/3,0)
3x0+Y=5 (Solving for Y)
Y-5 (0,5)
Equation 2: -2x+3(0)=4 (Solving for X)
-2X=4
X=-2 (-2,0)
-2(0)+3Y=4 (Solving for Y)
3Y=4
Y=4/3 or 1 1/3 (0,1 1/3)
Plotting graph intersects appear to be at 1 1/3 and 1 3/4 but doesn't compute when placed in original formulas.
Thanks

Question 61608: Last graph problem today. This time, my lines run on top of each other.
Solve by graphing and give solution for X and Y
3X+2Y=8
6X+4Y=16
Equation 1:
3X+2(0)=8
3X=8
X=8/3 or 2 2/3 (2 2/3, 0)
3(0)+2Y=8
2Y=8
Y=8/2 or 4 (0,4)
Equation 2:
6X+4(0)=16
6X=16
X=16/6 or 8/3 or 2 2/3 (2 2/3,0)
6(0)+4Y=16
4Y=16
Y=4 (0,4)
As I said, the lines run on top of each other so I cannot determine X and Y.
