Question 566542: i am trying to put equations in y=mx+b form then graph both equations then find the intersection point.
5x + y = 0
-5x - 2y = 10
Found 2 solutions by mananth, stanbon: Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 5 x + 1 y = 0
y=-5x.............1
-5 x -2 y = 10
2y=-5x-10
/2
y=(-5/2)x-5 .............2
Find the intercepts of these two lines by plugging x=0 & y=0
equation1
when x= 0, y=0,(0,0)
when y = 0,x=0(0,0)
Equation 2
when x= 0, y=-5(0,-5)
when y = 0,x=-2(-2,0)
The point of intersection is (2,-10)

You can put this solution on YOUR website! put equations in y=mx+b form then graph both equations then find the intersection point.
5x + y = 0
Subtract 5x from both sides:
y = -5x
---------
-5x - 2y = 10
Add 2y to both sides:
2y + 10 = -5x
Subtract 10 from both sides:
2y = -5x-10
Divide both sides by 2 to get:
y = (-5/2)x - 5
---------------
Graph both lines on the same set of axes:

Solution: (2,-10)
