Question 383710: My question is I dont really understand the slope/intercept form and how to graph them im really not good at the graphing or anything can you help me like for example (x+2y=6)how would I put that in slope-intercept form ? Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! x + 2y = 6
:
The slope intercept form is y = mx + b
x + 2y = 6
Subtract x from both sides
2y = -x + 6
Divide both sides by 2
y = -.5x + 3, is the slope intercept form
:
To graph choose at least 2 values for x and find y
Let x = 2
y = -.5(2) + 3
y = -1 + 3
y = 2
plot the ordered pair: x=2; y=2
:
Let x = -2
y = -.5(-2) + 3
y = +1 + 3
y = 4
plot the ordered pair x=-2; y=4
:
The graph should look like this
