Question 1186805: What is the graph equation plotting 5 points of y=-x^2-8x-15?
Answer by ikleyn(52748) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! .
You select five arbitrary different values of x and calculate 5 corresponding values of y, using the given formula.
It gives you 5 pairs of coordinates (x,y), i.e. 5 points in the coordinate plane.
Then you take a pen and a graph paper and mark these five points (x,y) there.
Finally, you take a pen and connect neighbor points.
That's all.
The curve is called " a parabola ".

What I described here, is the basic knowledge, of the same level as the multiplication table.
So, it is strange to me to see a visitor of this forum, who is unfamiliar with this technology/methodology
and comes asking on how to create a plot.
