Slope means, vertical change divided by horizontal change.

Variable m is often chosen for slope.
The formula for slope for two points (p,w) and (h,k) is m=%28w-k%29%2F%28p-h%29.

On my homework it says "Find the value of r so the line passes through each pair of points has the given slope" and one of the questions is (r,3), (5,9), m=2

Formula for m, or slope: %28y%5B1%5D+-+y%5B2%5D%29%2F%28x%5B1%5D+-+x%5B2%5D%29
Therefore, %28y%5B1%5D+-+y%5B2%5D%29%2F%28x%5B1%5D+-+x%5B2%5D%29+=+2
In this case: (r, 3) is (x%5B1%5D%22%2C%22y%5B1%5D), while (5, 9) is (x%5B2%5D%22%2C%22y%5B2%5D)
Substitute to find r.
