The radius,perpendicular distance from center to chord and the chord form a right triangle.
Apply pythagorean formula
for both triangles
Radius is the hypotenuse.
5^2-4^2
25-16=9
sqrt9 = 3

25-9=16
sqrt16=4
the distance between the chords = 1 in.
