Hi,

A class of 4 boys and 6 girls has an average score of 75 in a test. 

The girls' average was 5 higher than the boys.

Let x represent the boy's average and (x+5) represent the girl's average

Question states***

 %284x+%2B+6%28x%2B5%29%29%2F10+=+75

Solving for x

    10x = 750 -30

    10x = 720,  x = 72, the boy's average.  The girls' average was 77
