5% really means it is only 1/20 of the grade, and example, say up to this quiz you have an 86 average, which is 95% of the grade; you want to know what affect this quiz of 92 will effect the overall average grade
:
Av = %2819%2886%29%2B92%29%2F20
Av = %281634%2B92%29%2F20
Av = 1726%2F20
Av = 86.3, it will only raise the average .3 %
