You can put this solution on YOUR website!

I just answered one just like this for you. Use the same process, but you need to find your own appropriate multiplier.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
system%28-6x-4y=10%2C3x%2B12y=15%29

Here easiest to multiply both sides of equation 2 by 2.
system%28-6x-4y=10%2C6x%2B24y=30%29
Add these equations.
20y=40
highlight%28y=2%29

Using original system again, multiply both sides of equation 1, by 3.
system%28-18x-12y=30%2C3x%2B12y=15%29
Add these equations.
-15x=45
highlight%28x=-3%29

Not the only way to use Elimination Method for the example.

Solve the following System of Linear Equations using the Elimination Method
-6x-4y=10
3x+12y=15
Show all your work and answer
- 6x - 4y = 10 ------ eq (i)
3x + 12y = 15 ------ eq (ii)
Factor out a 2 in eq (i) to get: - 3x - 2y = 5 ----- eq (iii)
ADDING eqs (ii) & (iii) ELIMINATES x. Solve for y to get its value.
Substitute the value of y in any of the 2 equations to get the value of x.
