You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3x - 16 + angle = 180
x + angle = 90 ; angle = 90 - x
substitute into equation 1.
3x -16 + 90 - x = 180
2x + 74 = 180
2x = 106
x = 53 ; this is the complement.
90 - 53 = 37; this is the angle
3(53) - 16 = 143, this is the supplement.

the supplement of an angle is 16 less than three times the complement of the angle. Find the angle, its complement, and its supplement

Let the angle be A

Supplement of the angle = 180 - A

Complement of angle = 90 - A

Since the supplement of the angle is 16 less than three times the complement of the angle, we can say that:

180 - A = 3(90 - A) - 16

180 - A = 270 - 3A - 16

2A = 74

A, or angle = 74%2F2 = highlight_green%2837%5Eo%29

Angle's complement = 90%5Eo - 37%5Eo = highlight_green%2853%5Eo%29

Angle's supplement = 180%5Eo - 37%5Eo = highlight_green%28143%5Eo%29
