Question 332296: The ratio of the complement of an angle to its supplement is 1 to 4. Find the measure of the angle. I know how to set up the problem x/180-x-60 = 1/4 which is x/120-x = 1/4 but I just don't know why they subtract the 60. Please explain!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x = given angle

So it's complement is 90-x and it's supplement is 180-x

So if "The ratio of the complement of an angle to its supplement is 1 to 4", then %2890-x%29%2F%28180-x%29=1%2F4. I'll let you solve for x.
