Question 762518: 10. Point A is the origin. Find the coordinates of the two points that are 5 units distant from A, and have x-coordinates of +3. (Hint: Make a sketch. The two points fall on the line x=5, and therefore have coordinates (5,y) where y is unknown. Use the distance formula, suitably rearranged.)Problems 11 through 13: Find the slope of the line, given points A and B on the line.
11. A(4, 6) and B(-2, -2) Answer: . Show all the solution steps in detail, using the example as a model.

12. A(3, -4) and B(5, 4)
13. A(-3,2) and B(6,0)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Your points cannot both have -coordinates of 3 and also be on the line . By definition, all points on the line have -coordinates of 5.

As for the other three problems, most of the solution is simply arithmetic, so you aren't going to get "solution steps in detail" since I don't do arithmetic for people as a general rule. To find the slope given two points, use the slope formula:

where and are the coordinates of the given points.
