Question 6446: Hello, My name is Lavalle!
I need help with story problems. Some say there easy, I don't understand how. Its using equations to solve applied problems.
Please help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 1. Tom, Sam, and Stacy found a total of 13 eggs at the Easter Egg hunt. Sam found 2 times less 4 than Tom. Stacy found 5 times and 2 less than Sam. How many eggs did each find?
suppose number of eggs tom found=x
then sam found=2x-4
then stacy found,=5(2x-4)-2
equation= x+2x-4+5(2x-4)-2=13
2. Emiliy age is 4 years less than Korey, and Carter is 7 years less than Korey. Together their ages total 19. What is the age of each child?
koreys age =x
emilys age =x-4
carter =x-7
so
x+x-4+x-7=19
3. A family consists of 4 children, a set of triplets and John who is 6 years younger. The combined age of all the children is 54. Find John's age
age of each triplets =x
3triplets age =3x
johns age =x-6
so
3x+x-6=54
4. The length of a buffet table is 4 more than 3 times the width. If the perimeter is 40 feet, find the dimensions of the table.
width of table=x
length=3x+4
perimeter=40 feet
40=2 (3x+4+x)
