Use pence so
60x + 75y = 960 and x + y = 14 x = 14 - y
60(14 - y) + 75y = 960
840 - 60y + 75y = 960
15y = 120
y = 8
so x = 6
Check 8x75 + 6x60 = 600 + 360 = 960
