: Can any give me a hand with this one? Thanks
Use the discriminant to determine the nature of the rools of each equation. DO NOT SOLVE THE EQUATION.
10x^2 + x = 21
Remember it says not to solve the equation. Thanks!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Use the discriminant to determine the nature of the rools of each equation.
:
10x^2 + x = 21
Put the equation in the standard form:
10x^2 + x - 21 = 0
:
Using the form ax^2 + bx + c, in your equation: a = 10, b = 1, c = -21
:
The discriminant: D = b^2 - (4 * a * c)
:
D = 1^2 - (4 * 10 * -21)
D = 1 - (- 840)
D = 1 + 840
D = +841
:
Since D > 0, there are 2 real number solution that are not equal.
