The tavel service sold 14 tickets to the stage show. How many tickets to the concert were sold if the totle sales were $5990.
I do not need the answer because my teacher gave it to me i just need the steps to solving it. An EQUATION. The answer is 16. I just need an equation. if this is legit Thank you. please respond with an eqaution soon

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Let x = number of concert tickets sold

Since 14 stage show tickets were sold at $205 a piece, this means that the total sales for the stage show alone are 14*205 = 2870 dollars

Because there were x concert tickets sold at 195 dollars each, this means that the total sales for the concert alone are 195x (basically 195 times x, and we leave it like that)

The total overall sales will be equal to the sum of the two individual sales.

So the total overall sales is 2870 + 195x

But we know that "the total sales were $5990", so the last expression equals 5990

This means that the equation is 2870 + 195x = 5990

Now solve for x to find your answer

2870 + 195x = 5990

195x = 5990-2870

195x = 3120

x = 3120/195

x = 16

So 16 concert tickets were sold.
