Question 4712: In the exercises 23 it said to solve the given linear equation and check your answer. will I must be doing everthing wrong for I cant get the right answer.
can you help me -4(2x+1)-(x-2)=-11

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-4 (2x+ 1) - (x-2) = -11
The first step is distributive property.
-8x - 4 - x + 2 = -11

Combine like terms on the left side.
-9x - 2 = -11

Add +2 to each side of the equation:
-9x - 2 + 2 = -11 + 2
-9x = - 9

Divide each side by -9:
-9x%2F%28-9%29+=+-9%2F%28-9%29+
x=+1

Check in the original problem:
-4(2x+ 1) - (x-2) = -11
-4(2*1 + 1) - (1-2) = -11
-4 (3) - (-1) = -11
-12 + 1 = -11
-11 = -11 It checks!
