We can change 7/16 into a decimal by dividing 7 by 16. A fraction is really a division problem. If you carry out the division, you find that
7/16 = .4325
so the whole measurement is
57' 11.4325"
Now converting decimals to fractions is easier...
14.81' means 14 and 81 hundredths and that's how we write...
14 81/100 feet
If we can reduce, we must, but here we cannot...

1) 57'- 11 7/16" what is this as a decimal?
1st Write each part in feet.
11 7/16 inches = [16*11+7]/16=183/16 inches
=(1/12)(183/16)=0.953125 ft.
Then subtract from 57 ft to get:56.046875 ft.

14.81' what is this as a fraction?
=(1481/100)'
