x-y=-10
adding the two equations we get
2x=-2
x=-1
so x+y=8
y=8-x
y=8-(-1)=8+1=9

x + y = 8 ---(1)
x - y = -10 ---(2)
(1) + (2) gives,
2x = -2 => x = -1
put the value of x in 1, -1 + y = 8
=> y = 8 + 1 = 9
