We can solve this by cross-multiplying to give:
5%28x%2Ba%29=x%285%2Ba%29
Then distribute:
5x%2B5a=5x%2Bxa
Move all the x terms to one side:
5a=5x-5x%2Bxa
The 5x terms cancel to give:
5a=xa.
To get x by istelf, divide both sides by a.
5a%2Fa=xa%2Fa
Here we see that the a terms cancel out to yield:
5=x.
