You can put this solution on YOUR website!
%285%2F2%29x+%2B+%281%2F4%29x+=+%283%2F4%29+%2B+x

Change 5/2 to 10/4

%2810%2F4%29x+%2B+%281%2F4%29x+=+%283%2F4%29+%2B+x

Combine like terms

%2811%2F4%29x=%283%2F4%29%2Bx

Subtract 3/4

%288%2F4%29x=x

Only value for x that makes this true is zero.

Is it? 5%2F%282x%29+%2B+1%2F%284x%29+=+3%2F%284x%29?
=10%2F%284x%29+%2B+1%2F%284x%29+=+3%2F%284x%29?
=11%2F%284x%29+=+3%2F%284x%29?
It doesn't.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
:
Assume you mean:
5%2F2x + 1%2F4x = 3%2F4 + x
:
Multiply equation by 4 to get rid of the denominators,
4*5%2F2x + 4*1%2F4x = 4*3%2F4 + 4(x)
:
cancel out the denominators and you have
2(5x) + 1x = 3 + 4x
:
10x + x - 4x = 3
:
7x = 3
x = 3%2F7
:
:
Check solution,
Substitute 3/7 for x, use the common denominator of 28 and you have:
30%2F28 + 3%2F28 = 21%2F28 + 12%2F28
