Question 143033: Well, I'm stuck on this one, I'm not even sure I know where to start. I can find all sorts of examples of the formula to practice with but they all involve whole numbers rather than the fraction and that is what is messing me up. The question wants me to determine what either x or y would be given the other and then what (x,y) would be. I'm lost. Thanks for any help you can provide
Suppose you want to add a sprinkler system, and the location of one section of the sprinkler line can be described by the equation
y = -1/2x-4
Complete the table for this equation.
if x = -2 then y = (what) and(x,y)= (what)
if x = (what) then y= -4 and (x,y)= (what)
if x = 2 then y = (what) and(x,y)= (what)
if x = 8 then y = (what) and(x,y)= (what)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Suppose you want to add a sprinkler system, and the location of one section of the sprinkler line can be described by the equation
y = -(1/2)x-4
Complete the table for this equation.
if x = -2 then y = -(1/2)*-2-4 = 1-4 = -3 and(x,y)= (-2,-3)
-----------------------
if x = (what) then y= -4 and (x,y)= (what)
-4 = (-1/2)x -4
(-1/2)x) = 0
x = 0
So, if x = 0,then y = -4 and (x,y) = (0,-4)
---------------------------
if x = 2 then y = -(1/2)*2-4 = -5 and(x,y)= (2,-5)
--------------------------------
if x = 8 then y = -(1/2)*8-4 = -4-4=-8, and (x,y)= (8,-8)
