First graph the equation y = log(x). Then, for any part of that graph which is below the x-axis, reflect it to the other side of the x-axis.

The graph of y = log(x):

Note: This graph does not hit the y-axis. But a flaw in algebra.com's graphing software makes it look like it does.

Now we reflect the part below the x-axis to the other side:

Again we have the mistaken appearance that the graph hits the y-axis. Note also that at the point (1, 0) there is a somewhat sharp turn. It is not a smooth curve at that point.
