You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let the number of nickels be f
Let the number of quarters be q
Equation:
f + q = 25
The value of the nickels is 5f cents
The value of the quarters is 25q
Equation:
5f + 25q = 225cents
Solve this system of equations by substitution:
f = 25-q
5(25-q) + 25q = 225
125 - 5q +25q = 225
20q = 100
q = 5 (number of quarters)
f = 25-q = 20 (number of nickels)
