Question 756315: An open top silo has a cylinder walls with the outside diameter 5.2m thickness of 52cm and the height of 12m a can of paint costs 15.98 and covers 14m^2 how much will it cost to paint the silo

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I wasn't sure whether you wanted the silo
painted inside and out, so I did both!
Formula for Surface area = 2 pi rh
Outside wall => 2 * pi * 2.6 * 12 = 196.04m^2
196.04 m^2 / 14 m^2 = 14 cans
14 cans @ $15.98 = $223.72.
Inside wall (Radius = 2.6 - 0.52 = 1.08m)
=> 2 pi rh
=> 2* pi * 1.08 * 12 = 81.43 m^2
81.43 m^2/ 14 m^2 = 5.8 (Say 6)
6 cans @ $15.98 = $95.88
Therefore Outside wall will require 14 cans
and cost $223.72
Inside wall will require 6 cans
and cost $95.88
Total to do both inside and out = $319.6
Hope this helps.
