Using the Chain Rule: y '=  %28dy%2Fdu%29+%28du%2Fdx%29

Let u = (4x+1), %28du%2Fdx%29+=+4

y = tan(u)

y' = %28dy%2Fdu%29+%28du%2Fdx%29= 4sec^2(u)

y ' = 4sec^2(4x+1)  |  u = (4x+1)
