Question 1202323: Two boats A and B left a port C at the same
time on different routes. B travelled on a
bearing of 150° and A travelled on the north
side of B. When A had travelled 8 km and
B had travelled 10 km, the distance between
the two boats was found to be 12 km.
Calculate the bearing of A's route from C.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Two boats A and B left a port C at the same time on different routes.
B travelled on a bearing of 150° and A travelled on the north side of B. When A had travelled 8 km and B had travelled 10 km, the distance between
the two boats was found to be 12 km. Calculate the bearing of A's route from C.
---------------------------
3 sides of a triangle are given:
CB = a = 10
CA = b = 8
AB = c =12
Find the angle C using the Cosine Law:
c^2 = a^2 + b^2 - 2*a*b*cos(C)
144 = 100 + 64 - 2*10*8*cos(C)
cos(C) = -20/-160 = 1/8
C =~ 82.82 degs
Bearing = 150 - C =~ 67.2 degs

I'll email a graph and method later today.
