The Leaning Tower of Pisa is 56 meters tall on average and is leaning 4° from the vertical. Note that the tower was leaning toward the area where Elira was.

In order to find the distance between the starting and ending points in this problem, apply the cosine law.
Notice that this straight line distance IS NOT a TRAVELED DISTANCE,
but it is EXACTLY that distance which should be found in this problem.
It is INCORRECTLY to call this distance "the traveled distance".
The traveled distance in this problem is the length of the part of parabola,
while the distance between the endpoints is the length of the straight line interval.
