It's not supposed to equal anything, that's how it is on my homework. I don't understand how to do this and am overall confused with trig addition and subtraction. Thanks!

Make it sin and cos of t, not of 2t.
sin(2t) = 2sin(t)*cos(t)
--> 2sin(t)*cos(t) + cos(t)
That's all.
