Question 1022728: CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ANSWER WITH STEP BY STEP WILL BE APPRECIATED!!! THANKS IN ADVANCE ☺
The niagara falls sky wheel one of the tallest ferris wheels in north america is in niagara falls ontario ot has a diameter of 50.5 m and rotates 1 revolutionin 2 min the lowest point on the wheel is 2.5m from the ground
a) sketch a graph that shows the height of a rider over time for one rotation
b) what is the highest point a rider will reach?
c)Write an equation that will model the height of a rider over time .
d)use your equation to find the height of the rider after 10 seconds
e)How would your graph and equation change if the skywheel was set to a max speed of 1.5 revolution per min?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
at time 0, the height is 2.5m
:
With a diameter of 50.5 meters, the wheel has a radius of 25.25 meters. The height will oscillate with amplitude of 25.25 meters above and below the center.
:
Riders board 2.5 meters above ground level, so the center of the wheel must be located 25.25 + 2.5 = 27.75 meters above ground level. The midline of the oscillation will be at 27.75 meters.
:
The wheel takes 2 minutes to complete 1 revolution, so the height will oscillate with period of 2 minutes.
:
Lastly, since the rider boards at the lowest point, the height will start at the smallest value and increase, following the shape of a flipped cosine curve.
:
The equation for the rider's height will be
:
h(t) = -25.25cos(pi*t) + 27.75

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
h(t) = -25.25cos(pi*t) + (2.5+25.25)
Figure. Plot h(t) = -25.25cos(pi*t) + (2.5+25.25)
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
d)use your equation to find the height of the rider after 10 seconds
h(t) = -25.25cos(pi*t) + (2.5+25.25)
t is in minutes.
10 seconds = 1/6 minute
---
h(1/6) = -25.25cos(pi/6) + (2.5+25.25)
= 5.883 meters above the ground
e)How would your graph and equation change if the skywheel was set to a max speed of 1.5 revolution per min?
The period would be reduced. The max and min points would be the same height but closer together.
