You can put this solution on YOUR website! The perimeter of an equilateral triangle is 17 inches more than the perimeter of a square, and the side of the triangle is 8 inches longer than the side of the square. Find the side of the triangle.
sol :
let the side of the triangle = x , so perimeter of equilateral triangle = 3x
let the side of the square = y , so perimeter of square = 4y
given 3x = 17 + 4y
which gives 3x - 4y = 17 --------- 1
given x = 8 + y
which gives x - y = 8 -------- 2
