Question 1119021: Two ropes, AD and BD, are tied to a peg on the ground at point D. The other ends of the ropes are tied to points A and B on a flagpole. (Pls. do own illustration)
Angle ADC measures 45° and angle BDC measures 30°. What is the distance between the points A and B on the flagpole?
3.66 feet
6.34 feet
1.55 feet
2.74 feet Answer by greenestamps(13206) (Show Source):
(1) You haven't said where point C is. It would make sense if it were the base of the flagpole; however, it is not our responsibility to guess what required information you have left out in your statement of the problem.
(2) Even if we knew where point C was, we would not be able to answer the question. You ask for a distance between the two points on the flagpole; but without any information about distances given in the statement of the problem, that kind of question can't be answered.
