You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In a race, 1000 meters can be run by one main in 140 seconds and by a second man in 150 seconds. How long will it take the faster man to gain a lead of 20 meters on the other man?
------------
Find the 2 rates:
d = r*t
r = d/t
-----
Slower man: 1000/150 = 20/3 m/sec
Faster man: 1000/140 = 50/7 m/sec
----
Difference = 50/7 - 20/3 = 10/21 m/sec
-----
d = r*t
t = d/r = 20/(10/21)
t = 42 sec
