Question 420069: I was curious as to what credentials are held by your tutors? I did a quick review of several questions in the word problems category and discovered numerous errors and incorrect responses. While I don't condone having someone else doing your homework for you, I think that the responses should be screened for accuracy so as not to lead someone down the wrong path or teach them incorrect methods.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! What credentials are held by their fellow students whom
they also ask for help? The price is the same (I hope).
The marketplace of ideas is treacherous, and the
once burned may not return. I would definitely
guide students toward credentialed tutors who
would be only too happy to charge a (modest) fee.

I don't know what Igor will say to this, but here is my humble opinion:
I'm sure that you will agree that "You get what you pay for" is an almost invariant and universal principle. At least it is universally true enough that it can support my reply to your question.
All of the tutors on this site are volunteers. None of them get paid anything for what they post on this site. Some of us do make off-line agreements with students and get paid for helping on a one-to-one basis, but that is a different issue entirely. The capabilities of the group of people who do this vary across a broad spectrum, but my experience has been that every one of us has the student's interest at heart and that we do our best to help with the resources we have available. On the other hand, this is a human endeavor and therefore prone to error from time to time.
The bottom line is, if you don't like what you get on this site you are entitled to double your money back -- that is you are entitled to receive twice the amount paid to the tutor for taking the time and effort to post the answer in question. Given the content of your post, I am confident that you clearly understand that two times zero is, in fact and indeed, zero.
By the way, if you have the capability to discern correct responses from incorrect ones, why aren't you giving of your time to help instead of wasting all of our time by being a big whiner? Instead of coming off like some pompous a**hole with your enquiry about tutors credentials, why aren't you in there creating your own solutions? No matter how old a solution is, a different tutor can always go back and answer the question -- especially if they think something is posted incorrectly. When you get a couple of thousand questions answered under your belt, come back and we'll talk some more.
Have a nice day and don't spend your refund all in one place. Jerk.
John
