The bus travels 1 hr more than the car

Let x and (x+1)represent the time traveled for car and bus respectively

Question states***  (NOte: D = r*t)

  50mph*x = 40mph*(x+1)

Solving for x

     10x = 40

       x = 4hr, time for car.  Time the bus traveled was 5hr

CHECKING our Answer***

  50mph*4hr = 40mph*5hr = 200mi
