Question 28847: I'm having some trouble figuring out how to set this problem up. Anything you could do to help me would be great. Thank you

Allison drives 30 miles per hour through the city and 55 miles per hour on the New Jersey Turnpike. She drove 90 miles from Battery Park to the Jersey Shore. How much of the time was city driving if she spent 1.2 hours on the turnpike?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

"30mph in the city and hoping that Battery park is in the city.' 90 miles is the total distance.
equation:
30x+55(1.2)=90
30x=90-66
30x=24
x=0.8

Hence, about 0.8 hours or 48 minutes were spent in the city.
