Let john's speed = j and the distance he travelled be J. Time = 4 +1=5
Given: Lisa's speed = 30, time = 4. Let her distance be L
Since they are travelling in opposite directions, the distance between them is the sum of the distance travelled by each.
Distance = speed * time.
For John:

For Lisa
L+=+30+%2A+4
L+=+120
The total between them is given as 370.
370+=+L+%2B+J
370+=+120+%2B+J+
250+=+J
So John went 250km in 5 hours.
250+=+j+%2A+5
50km+=+j
John must be going 50km.
