Question 1132500: an aeroplane covered a distance of 320 km from airport A to airport B making an angle of 30° towards north-east. How far airport B is situated from A towards east and north. Found 2 solutions by Alan3354, greenestamps:Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source):
The phrase "30 degrees towards north-east" is ambiguous. It might be 30 degrees north of east, or 30 degrees east of north.
In either case, the directions "north", "east", and the path of the plane form a 30-60-90 right triangle. Since the path of the plane is 320km, the distances north and east from A to B are 160km and 160*sqrt(3)km; but we don't know which is which.
