You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Town P and Q are 265 km apart.
Car A started from P at 60 km/hr at 8.00 am towards Q.
Car B started from Q at 40 km/hr at 10.00 am. B stopped for half an hour.
A stopped for 28 minutes at town S which is at a distance of 210 km from P.
Find the time at which B crossed A.
:
P-A>----------------210 km-----------------------S---------55 km----------< B - Q
:
Let's find the time that each of them arrives at S, and see where we are at
A: 210/60 = 3.5 hrs to S
A started at 8:00, so arrives at 11:30
:
B: 55/40 = 1.375 hrs which is 1 hr 22.5 min travel time to S
B stopped for a half hour so let's assume it left at 10:30
10:30 + 1:22.5 = 11:52.5 arrives at S
:
A is already there waited for 22.5 min when B arrives
:
A meets S at 11:52.5
