You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Speed of truck is 145 miles/2.5 hours, which is 58 mph.
The car is going 1.5 times faster or 58*1.5=87 mph.
The two vehicles have a combined speed of 145 mph. They will meet in 1 hour.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
r = D/t
truck
r = 145mi/2.5hr = 58mph
car
r = (1.5)58 = 87mph
|
D the distance the truck travels: t = D/r
D/58 = (145-D)/87
87D = 58(145-D)
145D = 58*145
D = 58*145/14E = 58mi
Time = 58mi/58mph = 1hr they will meet.
checking
58mi + 87mi = 145mi CHECKS!

------------
1.5 times faster is a 150% increase in speed --> 2.5 times as fast.
Not 1.5 times the speed.
