Question 1169808: a pine sapling was 3 meters tall when it was first planted. in its first year, it grew 1 meter. in each successive year, it grew 75% of the previous year's growth. if it continues to grow in this manner, what is the maximum height the tree can grow to? ( hint: remember to add in the original height of the seedling.)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

The original height was 3 meters.

The amount of addition growth in meters is a geometric series: 1+(3/4)+(3/4)^2+...

The sum of an infinite geometric series is the first term divided by (1 minus the common ratio):

a%2F%281-r%29+=+1%2F%281-3%2F4%29+=+1%2F%281%2F4%29+=+4

Maximum height: 3+4 = 7 meters
