Question 833104: The three stooges painting company was hired to paint an 18 room home over a 3 day weekend. The owner Larry works 4 times faster than his apprentice Curley but only half as fast as his partner Moe. The 2 bosses started working at 8 a.m. On Saturday morning and were joined by Curley at noon. To teach Curley a lesson, he was sent off to the attic to paint 2 of the rooms on his own. Unfortunately, Curley used the wrong color and all of his work in the attic rooms had to be redone the following day. Curley was given a second chance on Sunday; only to show up late again at 10 a.m. Curley was fired. At the end of Sunday's shift and the owners were still able to complete the job as scheduled on Monday. How quickly was each person able to paint a room? You can assume that a work day is scheduled for 8 hours beginning at 8a.m.
Now this is a long problem with a lot of information that I keep getting all jumbled, the farthest I have gotten with this problem is trying to figure out the work rates. Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source):
