Together rate: 1/8 job/hr
B worker rate: 1/12 job/hr
A worker rate: 1/x job/hr

Equation:
rate + rate = together rate
1/x + 1/12 = 1/8
-----
12*8 + 8x = 12x
4x = 12*8
x = 24 hrs. (time for A to do the job alone)
