Question 794821: Looking for the most efficient method.
20 workers completed a quarter of a job in 8 days. How many more workers does will it take to complete the rest of the job in 5 days? Each worker works at the same rate.
Answer we have is:
1/4 / 20 = 1/80 - This is the amount of work each worker does per 8 days.
1/80 / 8 = 1/640 - This is the amount of work each worker does per day.
1/640 x 5 = 1/128 - This is the amount of work each worker does per 5 days.
x = the amount of workers
(1/128)x=3/4
x = 96
96 - 20 = 76 additional workers.
This answer is correct but I am trying to find a more efficient method. Answer by majo89(3) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! NUM OF MEN*NUM OF DAYS/TOTAL WORK IS CONSTANT.
here 20 men works for 8days to complete 1/4 job.we have to find x where 20+x men are required to complete 3/4 job in 5 days.
20*8/1/4=(20+x)*5/3/4
20*8*4=(20+x)*5*4/3
4*8*3=20+x
x=96-20=76men
