Add their rates of painting
( 1 living room ) / ( 2 hrs ) + ( 1 living room ) / ( 3 hrs ) = ( 1 living room ) / ( x hrs )
+1%2F2+%2B+1%2F3+=+1%2Fx+
Multiply both sides by +6x+
+3x+%2B+2x+=+6+
+5x+=+6+
+x+=+6%2F5+
This is 1 + 1/5 or
1 hour and 12 minutes with both painting
